Will I need to pay the ICO a fee?

Hi all,
I am currently developing a website for my business. The site will be informational only (a business profile / portfolio ), and no orders or transactions will be processed through it. However, I am considering adding a “Contact Us” form that would allow potential B2B partners to send us a message along with their name and email address.

I would like to understand whether having this type of contact form would mean that I am required to register with the ICO and pay the data protection fee, given that my business is not currently required to do so.

As an alternative, would simply displaying my business email address and/or phone number on the website—rather than using a contact form—avoid the need to register?

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

It depends whether you receive and store personal information for anything other than essential business purposes. E.g., for order handling and invoice and customer support there are no issues and no fees payable.

As above, use the tools on the ICO website to determine your exact requirements.

Gen Z loves the way of direct communication.
why just gen-z? Surely the means of communication can apply to any age?

However, the opening post is about B2B partnerships. That suggests a more formal method of initiating contact

As suggested, take the test.

My guess is no, you do not need to register. If you do something transactional with the data (which you probably will, why else would you want it?), then, probably yes.

Why would you need to register to fill in a contact form?

I assume they mean register with the ICO.

The means of collecting personal data is irrelevant. Makes no difference if you use email, contact forms or messaging apps.

Do the assessment @Kquerys

Hi, I don't if you're still looking for an answer, but if you are collecting named email addresses, even business ones, that is classed as PII so you have to register with ICO. Also make sure you have a privacy and cookie policy set up.
