I urgently need to sell my business for family reasons

I own I very unusual eyewear business in London which sells unused vintage eyewear, designs and makes its own luxury eyewear range and supplies eyewear to fashion and film designers. For family reasons I will increasingly have to spend time away from London and would like to divest myself of half of my business on very generous terms. This proposal would be of someone who is interested in the creation of a cutying edge eyewear brand, which has alwas been my objective. All proposals and suggestions are welcome

I can recommend an agent who can value the business and potentially sell it for you.

Is it profitable? Can it trade without you - can someone else come in and take over without your input?

If I invested in the business would I have to do anything? Do you employ a full set of staff who will run the business? Is there a board of directors?

2 big points I'd make:

1. Due diligence - it works for both parties, and I'd be wary of any buyer who didn't insist on it.

2. Shareholders' agreement, and not just a boilerplate one!

You are going onto trick turf. Not only will it attract scammers, but even a legitimate partnership needs to be thrashed out in detail
