As someone who is paying for Trustpilot (more than we would like but feel like it's best for our customers), I found this very funny indeed. On a side note, does anybody else prefer/use other review platforms? Could be looking to migrate when contract is up next year.

It depends on your requirements; e.g. I'm assuming it's brand reviews from looking at your website. The key question is where do your customers search for you and find out about your business/services?

If it's on Google organically, or actually on your website, we've had a lot of success with just using GMB reviews and building review programmes around that process.

If you need it to show in Google PPC search results, then you're limited to those Google approve. Trust Pilot are the best known, but they certainly have some good competitors who can come in cheaper; we've carried out due diligence for a few clients and reviews.io has worked out to have the best feature set versus cost.

The problem is usually keeping/porting existing reviews. If your looking your for product and brand reviews there are some other good options, especially if you can piggy back on reviews from other retailers.

Reviews definitely work for most people. However, IMO, companies like Trust Pilot just charge a premium for doing nothing but collecting data.

If they're not for you, another approach could be to make collecting reviews part of your post sales process. This gives you a chance to get in touch with the customer again and build a personal relationship with them. Personal relationships = better life time value. Then, put the reviews next to the point of sale on your website so that the user doesn't have to leave your site.
